Whats the latest....

Well with Craigslist handing out cease and desist orders (like it's halloween) to every meta search engine that compiles Craiglist listings around the world, it has been tough to search for Whalers.

Also, things this summer have been very busy at the home and work fronts.

Never the less, am back to honing my Whaler searching skills using good old Google searches and I should start posting them again soon.  Until then....see you on the water.

-Best Jeff

Classic 19 Revenge in Mint Condition

This boat belongs to a good friend on mine in Maryland.  Jim bought this boat last year here in Michigan.  He and I took it out together on Lake St Clair right after he bought it.  I drove the boat and loved it.  The I/O was very quite and powerful.  The boat was always trailer kept and freshwater use only up until Jim bought it.  Since then he has used it very little in the brackish waters of the Chesapeake Bay.  Since he bought the boat Jim has put a brand new trailer (previously bought for an 18 Outrage) under the boat, had a good service done on the engine and also had a fair bit of gelcoat touch ups done to make the boat perfect.

The cleanest 18 Outrage you will find for the Money

Mike Gephart who a an acquaintance of mine through many mutual friends has decided to sell his 1981 18 Outrage.  Mike is a great guy who takes outstanding care of his Whalers.  For the asking price of $10,900 you will have a tough time finding a better priced one in as nice of condition.

Here are the details:

1981 Boston Whaler Outrage 18 - Classic Desert Tan, Teak Gunwales. No bottom paint.
1993 Yamaha 130 hp engine with unknown hours. (I bought it used)

Dilly Trailer with keel rollers, support bunks/ spare tire
Raymarine RAY45 VHF Radio w/ Antenna
Lowrance X65 Fish finder w/ speed paddle wheel
Jensen MCD5112 CD Stereo with speakers mounted on side under gunnels
OEM rod holders
Rule Bilge Pump
Compass
Stern Seat, The seat needs work. The upholstery needs to be re-done.
Custom grab rails
2 Captains Chairs. The upholstery needs to be re-done.
Full Cover – Blue
Spare 1993 Yamaha130 parts from previous engine except one carb because I sold it to another Continuouswave forum member.

History:
I purchased this boat from the Continuouswave forum member JB Cornwell in August 2002. That winter I disassembled the entire boat. I pulled the console, floor and gas tank. I flipped the hull over and wet sanded and buffed the hull. I gel coated spots that needed it. I flipped the boat back over and wet sanded and buffed the inside of the hull.
I stripped, sanded and varnished all the bright work with Z-Spar varnish. Applied eight coats on each piece.
I buffed every piece of chrome on the boat. What couldn’t be buffed I had re-chromed.

In 2003 I took the boat up to Bayfield Wisconsin for a Whaler Rendezvous. Last day there engine threw a rod.
In 2004 I tore the engine apart. I figured out it would cost as much to fix it than to buy another one. I bagged and tagged all the spare parts.
In 2004 I found an identical ’93 Yamaha 130 online.
In 2004 I took the boat up to the Georgian Bay/North Channel Rendezvous and put 630 miles on the new engine. The engine ran flawless the entire time.
I used the boat off and on for the next six years. The last couple of years I have only used it a couple of times over the summer.
The boat has always been stored in my garage on a trailer for the summer and stored in a climate controlled warehouse for the winter.
The reason I’m selling the boat is we just don’t use it. Our kids are growing up and doing other things and it’s taking up space in the garage. The boat is located in St Paul, MN.

Not for everyone but DAMN cool in my book

Sure the Temptation was a red headed step child of the Whaler line up but, so what.  I love them.  This is a VERY rare boat in my book and one that should be sought after.  Mainly because it has no bottom paint which is rare for most any 25' Whaler.  Also, that 340hp 454ci Big block will move that boat long surely in the 55-60 mph range pretty easy.

22 Outrage I/O $12,500

To each their own but, honestly I love I/0 powered Whalers.  This is one of only a few 22 Outrage I/0's I have seen.  By looking closely at the images it looks like the outdrive is newer thus it has likely been repowered.  These I/O's provide a quite, smoke free and powerful ride.

This hull looks to be well appointed and cared for.

Here is a link to it and it's owner

From the owner:
She is powered by a Yamaha I/O with a Chevy 305 4 bbl carb put in in 92 I think.  I replaced the risers and manifolds last year. Runs great and cursing speed is about 23 - 25 she drinks about 8 Gallons per hour according to fuel flow meter.  Top speed is about 40. Gelcoat is in great condition for its age.  There are some dings and touch ups but she is a great looking Outrage.  One of the best I’ve seen.

I think the gas tank is original but from what I can see it looks good.  Only problem is the gas gage doesn’t work.  Not sure if it is gage or sender.  I have a fuel flow meter so I just watch that to know what I have left.

She has a trailer that works well to get her to and from the ramp but might need some love to get to FL.

I will try to take more photos and get them to you.

Clean looking freshwater 22 Revenge $10,900

This one I may have to go take a look at myslef.  It is located in my In-laws old home town and I get back there fairly often.  None the less, for the price of an 18 Outrage or really nice Montauk for that matter you could be into this Revenge.  Honestly now after owning a larger Outrage and having a family I will say, that a Revenge makes for a FAR better family boat option.  While I do not like the way it sits on the trailer and of course the blue bottom paint, over all I think it could be a great deal.

Nice 17 Newport for the asking price

Sure it has bottom paint and could use some varnish but, all things considered this 17 Newport for $5,500 looks to be a pretty nice package. The fact that it still has it's front bucket seats and both windshields that look great is a huge plus.

If the motor runs well and checks out good, and you could get it on an offer below asking price you could have a winner on your hands. After a good clean up, polishing, new black or tan bottom paint and varnish you could have a head turner.

Super Clean OEM looking Montauk in Michigan

Like most of our Freshwater Whaler offerings from the Great Lakes, this Montauk looks to have lived a pampered life of freshwater only use and short seasons. This one comes from freshwaters of Grand Traverse Bay which is known as one of the most upscale vacation communities in Northern Lower Michigan. The boat was likely a cottage boat that saw little abuse and likely little use. While it is a later model with no teak on it, one could easily add the teak bow locker, RPS seat back and even louvered doors if they so wished.

If the boat checks out to be a 9 out of 10, the asking price is well worth it. If you have never seen a pampered great lakes but, I can assure you that they can still easily look like new.

22 Revenge W/T outside Dallas for $9400

This Revenge Walk Through is located on the large freshwater reserve outside Dallas, Lake Texoma. The boat, 225 Johnson and trailer are up for an asking price of $9400. The price sure makes it a very attractive package. More images would help to tell the story better but, I know there is at least a full wrap around stern seat, and it states a onboard freshwater sink. So that means it must have the optional Pilot seats with storage boxes and sink. Those were a spendy option!

I came cross this ad today and was surprised at how clean and unmolested this Cohasset is. 1979 22 Outrage for $6500 in Florida

While it likely has seen it's fair share of sun and salt over the last 33 years, the price makes it worth poking around I suppose. Especially if you are in the Port Charlotte Fl. area and want an Outrage. This hull does have a Super Console which after owning a 22 Outrage myself, I say is a must for the boat. Clean Freshwater Montauk priced VERY well

Sold in less than a week!

Bob bought this Montauk 7 years ago and has nicely maintained the boat during his ownership. The boat has been used in freshwater only for it's entire life. I know he got it from Minnesota and has used it all over Michigan during his ownership.

Here is a link to current Images of the Boat.

Here are some older Images.

Here are the details:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After 7 years I am going to sell the best boat I have ever had so I can move up to a 22 or 25 Outrage. I am the third owner of this boat, the first two were older gentlemen from Minnesota. This boat has never seen salt to my knowledge.

She is very sound mechanically. The Evinrude V4 is the original engine that came with the boat, and runs like a top. I still have the original Evinrude owners manual and paperwork that came from the Boston Whaler dealer when new. It pushes the Montauk over 45mph consistently, and has a 13x19 aluminum prop and a 17" aluminum prop that I just purchased last year for tubing and skiing. Several years ago I installed a Rite Hite jackplate, which allows the engine to run higher and more efficiently, saving fuel and adding speed.

The trailer was bought new in 2004, its a Shorelander bunk trailer and it looks like new, all the lights work and it has no damage anywhere. I also have all the paperwork from when this was purchased.

There are a couple of minor blemishes on the hull, none through the gelcoat. They are minor enough that I cannot take a picture of them and be able to see anything worth posting. Also the RPS seat cushion has a crack in one corner and the cooler seat has a crack in the corner of that cushion as well. At one time an electric trolling motor was mounted in the bow, and you can see where the holes were filled.

I bought the VHF radio last season and it works great. I also bought a new battery for the boat last spring. The GPS is a hand held Garmin, its an older unit but it works good for me. The depth/fish finder is nothing fancy, but it always works and the backlight works as well. Also included is a factory front swivel seat. The seat is in good condition, however the mechanism for tightening the seat was stripped out when I bought the boat

The 4hp kicker is NOT included with the boat. The gas tanks are 12 gallon Tempo tanks. If you do not want those tanks I have the original OMC 6 gallon tanks as well.

$7,500

Thanks
Bob

Likely the cleanest Classic Outrage 22 on the market

Sold! I am happy to say Outre is sitting at home with it's new owner. I am sure John has mixed feelings seeing her go but, at least she is staying in Michigan and in the Continuouswave Family!

I received a note a couple months ago about Outre possibly going on the market. It seemed tough to believe considering the quality of vessel Outre is. So, with I got in contact with John who owns the the boat and received an email back. In the note from John Flook he stated it was true, he was thinking of selling his near perfect 1992 Outrage 22.

I have seen the boat in person and can say it would be tough finding a cleaner, more outfitted 22 any where on the market today. John takes meticulous care of the boat, it's systems and power. No detail is left untouched.

The brass tacks details:

John has not settled on a firm asking price yet but, his mind is in the mid $30,000 range. You will need to get in contact with him to get firm details on price. If you think you are going to low - ball, don't waste John's time. John understands the boat's value, quality and rarity and he understands it will take the right buyer to start to see eye-to-eye with him. If you understand the true value this Whaler has, you are the right kind of buyer.

15' Center Console Sport. Super clean and OEM

The 15' center console sport is one of the coolest little Whaler's I think were ever built. This one I came across on the hull truth and just had to pass long. This boat shows amazingly well in the images and I doubt you will find a cleaner one out there on the market right now. Being a purist I would love to see the console windshield in the OEM bronze tint and have the cushions in the Parchement and Brown / Black piping but, that is being overly nit-picky. The boat is located in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

While it is not a perfect 10 for the asking price this 23 WalkAround Whaler Drive my be worth a little more inspecting if you are in the market. Located in Annapolis Maryland

Boat Motors and trailer is $14,000 OBO.

Premium Freshwater 18 Outrage

This looks like a perfect freshwater example of an 18 Outrage. It's a bit higher than average sure but, if it is as clean as it looks in person as the photos I's say it would be well worth the asking price. Boat, 150 yamaha trailer and no bottom paint. Call Doc in Chicago at (773) 858-2999

Super Clean OEM looking Newport

Yes, I am a sucker for a clean Newport as I own one myself. It honestly is a super classy looking boat in person and is a FAR better option for a family than a Montauk. This one is a one owner classic in the San Fransisco bay area and well priced at $6500 if it all checks out. Call Peter 831-236-8662

Clean and well priced 21 Walkaround

This little brother to the 23 WalkAround has a great ride and lots of room in the cuddy for a 21' boat. This boat has been listed on and off for the last 9 months or so. It seems to be very clean in the other images I have seen of it and it has no bottom paint and has been rack stored. at $13,500 is seems well priced. Link to AD

17 Guardian DiveMaster in CT

A 17' Guardian Dive master is not a usual sight. I would be a great boat for a hard core diver. This one says it has never been used commercially so that mean it does not suffer from the hard core abuse scars, if any at all. Call 203 675 1343

21 Outrage with Twins

It's no secret I really like the first generation of Post Classic Outrages for a lot of reason. Finding a first gen post Classic 21 Outrage with twins is a bit rare but a very nice option. Yes the price is a bit high for most, for the right person this boat is a great find. Link to Ad

Desert Montauk

If you live in California with may be worth a trip to give the Montauk a look over. At $5900 and being a one owner boat, you could be into a decent boat below the standard West Coast Prices.

12 Gallon Tempo Tank

$90 for the pair. If you have a 17 Whaler these tanks are what I think are some of the best you can have. With a little restoration they will look like new and last many more decades. Call Jeff: Jeff at (360) 565-6111 Link to the ad.

Super Clean one Owner Newport in the Bay Area

Maybe I am just a sucker for the Newport because I own one and LOVE it but, I do think these make far better family boats than a Montauk. And no, this is not a sit down and drive Whaler. Even a 6'2" my father can stand at the console and steer. This boat is a super clean and OEM one owner 1978 Newport in Monterey Ca for $6500. Which considering it's location seems like a really good price.
